I posted about Github Copilot a few weeks back and several folks were able to build some interesting apps and scripts using that approach. Today, I tried out Google Gemini Canvas for the first time and was blown away! In a web page, starting from a prompt… Gemini Canvas builds a working application with the user experience in minutes.
Quick test, i’m going to give it instructions for a relatively simple app designed for mobile. Timer/task tracking.
build a simple tracker for a kid to track their daily tasks/chores and time how long they spent on them (musical instrument practice, duolingo, etc.)
easy web interface, primarily designed for the phone

After it churned for a bit showing the code it was writing, it flipped over to the UX preview mode and let me use the app in the browser

I’ve been very impressed with a lot of the coding assist models lately like Sonnet 4 and o4 and Gemini as well… but this instant UX interface is a very cool way to tinker with your project idea.
Try it out… Post what you build on LinkedIn!
